Section 01

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They enable the site to remember your actions and preferences, provide essential functionality, and deliver usage analytics. Cookies may be “first-party” (set by our domain) or “third-party” (set by external services), and “session” (deleted when you close your browser) or “persistent” (retained until they expire or are manually deleted).

We may also use similar technologies:

  • Pixels / Web Beacons: Tiny transparent images that record whether a page or email has been viewed.
  • Local Storage / Session Storage: Browser-based storage mechanisms with greater capacity than cookies.
  • Scripts: Code enabling site functionality that may also collect usage data.

References to “cookies” in this Policy include all such technologies unless the context requires otherwise.

Section 02

Why We Use Cookies

  • To ensure proper technical functioning and security of the Website.
  • To remember your preferences (e.g., cookie consent choices).
  • To understand how visitors interact with the Website (pages visited, time on site, navigation paths, portfolio engagement).
  • To measure the effectiveness of our marketing and advertising campaigns.
  • To detect and prevent fraud, bot traffic, and security threats.
Section 03

Section 05

YouTube Thumbnails & Self-Hosted Video

This section addresses the specific video content on our Website, which is relevant to how cookies and tracking function:

5.1 YouTube Thumbnail Images (Portfolio Section)

Our portfolio section displays video thumbnails loaded as static images from YouTube’s image CDN (img.youtube.com). These are standard image files (<img> tags), not YouTube iframe embeds. As static images, they do not load the YouTube video player and do not set YouTube cookies on your device when the page loads.

However, if you click on a portfolio thumbnail and are redirected to YouTube.com (or the YouTube app) to watch the video, YouTube/Google will then collect data and set cookies in accordance with Google’s Privacy Policy. That data collection occurs on YouTube’s domain, not on our Website.

5.2 Self-Hosted Video Files

Our Website includes self-hosted video files (e.g., the hero background video and the about-us video) served directly from our own servers at abodhitreemedia.com. These videos do not involve any third-party player, tracker, or cookie. Standard web server logs (IP address, request timestamp, user agent) are generated when these files are loaded, as is normal for any web request.

5.3 Social Media Links

Our team member profiles link to external social media profiles (Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube). These are standard hyperlinks (<a> tags) and do not load social media widgets or set third-party cookies on our Website. Data collection by those platforms occurs only after you click through to their sites.

Section 06

Third-Party Cookie Providers

Third-party services that may set cookies on our Website:

  • Google Analytics (Google LLC): Web analytics — Privacy Policy
  • Google Ads / Google Tag Manager (Google LLC): Advertising and tag management — Ads Policy
  • Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms, Inc.): Ad tracking and measurement — Privacy Policy
  • LinkedIn Insight Tag (LinkedIn Corp.): Ad analytics — Privacy Policy
  • Cloudflare, Inc.: Security and CDN — Privacy Policy

We encourage you to review these providers’ policies for their practices and opt-out options.

Section 07

Consent & Legal Basis

7.1 Consent Mechanism

Upon your first visit, a cookie consent banner will be presented, allowing you to accept or reject non-essential cookies by category. Strictly necessary cookies are exempt. Your consent is specific, informed, freely given, and revocable at any time.

7.2 By Jurisdiction

  • United Kingdom (UK GDPR & PECR): Non-essential cookies require prior opt-in consent under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (Regulation 6). Strictly necessary cookies are exempt. The ICO is the supervisory authority.
  • EU/EEA (GDPR & ePrivacy Directive): Non-essential cookies require prior opt-in consent under Directive 2002/58/EC (as amended by Directive 2009/136/EC).
  • India (DPDP Act, 2023 & IT Act, 2000): Where cookies collect Personal Data, processing occurs on the basis of consent or another lawful basis under the DPDP Act.
  • California (CCPA/CPRA): You have the right to opt out of “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell personal information. Where cookies enable cross-context behavioural advertising, we provide an opt-out.
Section 08

Section 09

Impact of Disabling Cookies

  • Some Website features may not function as intended.
  • Browsing experience may be degraded.
  • You may still see advertisements, but they will be less relevant to your interests.
  • Disabling strictly necessary cookies is not recommended and may prevent the Website from functioning.
Section 10

Do Not Track Signals

There is no universally accepted standard for DNT signals. Our Website does not currently respond to DNT browser settings. You can manage tracking preferences through the methods in Section 8. We will update this section if an industry standard is adopted.

Section 11

Retention of Cookie Data

  • Session cookies: Deleted when you close your browser.
  • Persistent cookies: Retained for the durations specified in the inventory (Section 4).
  • Google Analytics data: Aggregated data retained per our GA configuration (typically 14–26 months).

See our Privacy Policy for general data retention practices.

Section 12

International Data Transfers

Third-party cookies may transmit data to servers outside your country, including the United States (Google, Meta, LinkedIn). Transfers from the UK/EEA are safeguarded by Standard Contractual Clauses, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, or the UK IDTA as implemented by the respective providers. Transfers from India comply with the DPDP Act, 2023.

Section 13

Changes to This Cookie Policy

We may update this Policy to reflect changes in cookies, legal requirements, or our practices. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last Updated” date. Where appropriate, we will re-seek consent for non-essential cookies.
